Public Liability Insurance
Damages which the insured shall be legally liable for following accidental:
- Death, bodily injury to, or illness of any person; or
- Accidental loss of or physical damage to tangible property, in the course of or in connection with the business.
Some common extensions to Public Liability cover would be:
- Products Liability;
- Defective workmanship liability;
- Legal defence costs;
- Wrongful arrest and defamation;
For liability insurance, special wordings are developed to meet individual circumstances. Damages are dependent upon the insured being legally liable to pay. The liability policy is not a form of All Risks cover, covering anything which may go wrong or to pay out in cases where merely a moral responsibility is thought to exist.
